Start with the end in mind

Posted on: 25 Aug 2021

Starting with the end in mind is a basic coaching principle. It’s the first step of the GROW model, and it’s the first thing we do when establishing the agreement for a coaching session. It’s also the second habit of Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”.

Considering how integral this principle is to the world of coaching, it’s astounding to see just how many coaches fail to apply this same principle to their coaching business.

Belinda MacInnes, MCC and coaching skills trainer, saw “too many good coaches fail at running a successful and sustainable coaching practice” and set about writing The Professional Coach’s Business System (PCBS). ReciproCoach also recognised how many coaches don’t last in business, and so we partnered with Belinda to deliver the Design Your Coaching Practice Peer Coaching Round to guide beginner and struggling coaches alike to fully explore the critical question of what you want from your coaching business. Too often overlooked and underrated, this peer coaching round aims to support coaches in setting the foundations for a successful and sustainable coaching practice.

Arguments

This Design Your Practice Peer Coaching Round is ideal for you if you are still yet to:

  • Define your practice in terms of client hours and revenue
  • Plan your time
  • Identify your sales mix
  • Crystallise your ideal clients, vision, mission, values, and passion
  • Define your business structure

Some of the above may sound familiar, and yet, so many coaches fail to actually do it. Combining the theory with practice through the Design Your Practice Peer Coaching Round— wherein you work with both a coach and a client—this round aims to ensure that you do what is necessary to lay the foundations for a successful coaching business.
