Going “deeper sooner” for bigger impact in coaching sessions

Posted on: 18 Jun 2019

Some coaches make the mistake of thinking they’re giving more value when they give their clients longer sessions. In fact, the opposite is true – decreasing the time it takes you to create awareness for your clients, increases your value as a coach.

Fran Fisher, MCC and ICF Assessor, talks about using the process of Creating the Coaching Agreement to go “deeper sooner”. She teaches coaches to use the coaching agreement to support their clients in discovering their underlying issue at the beginning of the session, rather than half an hour into the session or, even later, in the last 5 minutes?!

Creating the Coaching Agreement, the foundation of each and every coaching session, ensures your coaching conversations are clearly focused and directed towards what the client wants. When you uncover the clients’ underlying motivation during the creation of the agreement, not only does this result in a more effective session, but it also leads to longer lasting resolution.

If you’re taking too long to nail your clients’ underlying issues and create awareness, then let ReciproCoach support you in honing your process of Creating the Coaching Agreement through our Creating the Coaching Agreement Peer Coaching Round.  We’re also offering the complementary Creating the Coaching Agreement Group Mentoring Session to embed your learning through shared experience (observer-only session also available).
